New Rules for KeyForge: Draconian Measures

Each new KeyForge: Draconian Measures deck has has a chance to include cards with any three new game mechanics: +1 Power Counter bonus icons, the Entrench keyword, or the Overwhelmed keyword. Brief descriptions of these new mechanics can be seen below. For full game rules see the KeyForge Master Rulebook.

+1 Power Counter Bonus Icons

KeyForge: Draconian Measures introduces a new bonus icon: +1 Power Counters. Like other bonus icons, +1 Power Counter bonuses are added to individual KeyForge cards during deck generation by cards in the deck that have the Enhance keyword ability. In the example here, Bloodwing has added one of its +1 Power Counter bonus icons to Frigorific Rod. When you play a creature with this bonus icon, take a +1 power counter from the common supply and place it on any creature.

Entrench

Entrench is a new keyword ability that can appear on creatures. During your ready cards step, if a friendly exhausted creature has Entrench, you may choose to leave it exhausted instead of readying it. Many card abilities in this set require the card to be exhausted, or increase in strength based on the number of friendly exhausted creatures.

A creature with Entrench may not be willingly exhausted by its controller during their ready cards step, meaning that the card must have already been exhausted through a game or card effect.

As an example, consider a player who controls Sparkscheme, which reads “After an enemy creature reaps, if Sparkscheme is exhausted, draw a card.” That player may choose keep Sparkscheme exhausted to gain this benefit. A player with multiple Entrench cards makes this choice separately for each card.

Overwhelmed

Overwhelmed is new game term. If your opponent has more creatures in play than you do, you are Overwhelmed. This is a game state that cards within the set will interact with causing different abilities to trigger. If players have exactly equal creature counts, or both have no creatures at all, neither player is Overwhelmed.
