What is a Deck Clone?

One of the things that makes KeyForge special is the fact every deck is 100% unique. However, there are times when that uniqueness may be an issue for players. For example, as a player, you may encounter the following:

  • My original deck is lost or stolen

  • A few cards in my deck are damaged or lost

  • My deck is precious! I don’t want it getting damaged when playing

  • I’d like several copies of this deck to play with my family

  • I love this deck, but it is in a foreign language

To address these issues, Ghost Galaxy has made it possible for a deck’s owner (see nearby sidebar) to acquire a deck clone of their unique deck.

A deck clone is essentially a functional copy of a deck, with several distinct attributes differing from the original.

Physical differences

Deck Clones vary from their original decks in several ways. For example, the card back of cloned decks has several differences, as detailed below.

Also, the front of each cloned card will have the “clone” marking near the card title.

Lastly, deck clones will not retain any special border treatments (such as the “Savior of KeyForge”, “Awakenings”, or “Foresight” decks). These are reserved for original decks only.

Master Vault Deck Ownership

Each KeyForge deck comes with a unique ID, which may be found on the deck’s list card. The code is printed both on the card, and is embedded in the card’s QR code.

After a deck is purchased, the owner may register the deck to their account in the KeyForge Master Vault. In doing so, the owner claims Master Vault Ownership of that deck, which allows that player to use the deck in official KeyForge tournaments, and to make deck copies of that deck.

Deck Clones in Official Tournaments

Deck clones are legal in official KeyForge Tournaments, subject to the following limitations*:

  • Only the Master Vault Owner of the original deck may use its clone in official tournaments (i.e. a player’s Master Vault “friends” are not eligible to use the player’s deck clones in official tournaments).

  • Only one instance (i.e. clone or original) of a KeyForge deck may be played in an official tournament

Clone Deck Language Selection

When the Master Vault has the necessary information to produce a clone in a given language, that language will appear in the “Select Language” drop-down field when purchasing a deck clone. English will always be an option.

Due to the transition of KeyForge from Fantasy Flight to Ghost Galaxy, we are unfortunately not able to produce non-english clones of decks from the first five KeyForge sets (Call of the Archons, Age of Ascension, World’s Collide, Mass Mutation, and Dark Tidings).

Q: How Do I Purchase a Deck Clone?

A: Log into your KeyForge Master Vault account and navigate to the desired deck. Below the deck title, you’ll see an “Order Deck Clone” section where you may purchase the deck clone. Note, that this section will only appear if you have Master Vault Deck ownership of that deck.

Q: Are all KeyForge sets available for Deck Clone purchasing?

A: At the time this Q&A was written, all KeyForge sets except for KeyForge: Menagerie, KeyForge: Unchained, KeyForge: Prophetic Visions, KeyForge: Vault Masters 2025, and KeyForge: Dark Tidings are ready for Deck Clones. We hope to make KeyForge: Dark Tidings decks available for cloning in the near future.
